“We want to put a smile on our children’s faces by caring for them, loving them, supporting them, trusting them, sharing them and teaching them.”

This is the guiding principle of the Miles of Smile Daycare Center. Isaya, the founder of the Miles of Smile, is doing exactly what we stand for and we are therefore happy to be able to support this project since the end of 2022.

The Miles of Smile Daycare is a day care center that was founded in September 2020 in the pediatric department of a hospital and after 2 ears it was officially registered in 2022. The grounds of the kindergarten are now in Kwa Maretu, a suburb of Arusha. A plot of land with an existing house was rented there, which is currently being adapted to the needs of the daycare.

As already mentioned, the founder of the day care center is called Isaya. He is 27 years old and a doctor by profession. Miles of Smile currently employs two professional educators and a chef. Changing volunteers from the organization Step Africa actively support the project.
At the moment 35 children attend the day care center. The children all come from different backgrounds, so that at the moment only about 18 families are able to pay the fee of 10,000 TZS (about 4 €) per month and not regularly. The children get porridge for breakfast and lunch every day. The children are between 2 and 6 years old and when they are 7 years old they will go to a state primary school.

Miles of Smile’s vision is a community where all children feel loved, respected and encouraged to reach their full potential.

This includes, above all, providing quality education and childcare in a safe, respectful and inclusive environment,
respectful and inclusive environment that lays a foundation for lifelong learning.

The Miles of Smile aims to create a safe learning environment with a welcoming atmosphere that conveys the feeling of being a family. They maintain an environment that recognizes and respects children from different family and cultural backgrounds.

The motto of the facility is “The adventure of life is to learn”

Since April 2022, we have been working with Step Africa, a volunteer organization based in Arusha, through which Miles of Smile is supported by energetic volunteers. This good cooperation also brought Giving Smiles into play. Together with Step Africa we have launched another sponsorship program for this project. This program is a project sponsorship.

From month to month, Isaya struggles to meet the running costs of food, wages, rent, electricity and other expenses. The project sponsorship program should be able to cover exactly these costs in the long term.

If you are interested in sponsoring this project, please feel free to contact us via email. With this project we not only welcome Isaya, but also Lea, our first project coordinator, who will coordinate everything related to Miles of Smile on behalf of Giving Smiles.

Karibu sana! We are delighted to welcome the Miles of Smile to Giving Smiles.
